Is The Fujitsu S1500 Scansnap Scanner A Good Value? Where Can You Get
a Great Deal on this Scanner?
Fujitsu is known for their high advancements in optics leading them to building some of the best
cameras in the market. This gives the microelectronics manufacturer the opportunity to compete in the scanner
market that is dominated by other known brands like Canon, HP, and EPSON. Fujitsu remains as one of Canon's biggest
competitors as Fujitsu competes actively in both cameras and computer peripherals. One of the latest models is the
Fujitsu S1500 which boasts advantages in speed and usability compared to the many flat-bed scanners available.

Advantages
This particular sheet-fed scanner looks very compact compared to the others out there and should pair well with
any other compact printer on a small desk. In fact, the size of the printer can be compared to a regular loaf of
bread.
People that are into archiving receipts and documents will highly benefit from the S1500 as the document can
easily feed into the scanner and then proceed in scanning the entire document in full color although a faster
black-and-white option is available too. The S1500 tops at 600x600 dpi and can even scan both sides of the
document. The documents also scan quickly capable of scanning around 20 pages in a minute. Files are outputted to
PDF format by default and can be made after a single button press, but the included software yields the real
advantages. The ABBYY OCR program is very accurate in scanning these PDF documents and making them searchable. With
its price around $400, the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 makes a great
compact scanner to have lying around.
Disadvantages
This isn't the scanner of choice for scanning wide documents and other documents longer than legal-sizes. It is
only limited to scanning 8.5" wide documents, but then the S1500 is really meant specifically for standard document
scanning. Even scanning photos produce only average results. While the S1500 works with Mac OSX systems just fine,
there is unfortunately no OCR software for the Mac.
Customer Reception
Customers in Amazon gave the ScanSnap lots of positive remarks on the fast scanning speeds and very simple set
up which involves installing the ScanSnap software followed by
plugging in the USB cable. There are some issues with paper jams, but users had no trouble continuing with their
scanning afterwards. Some even prefer using this than the multi-function printers that have built-in scanners.
Final Words
To get around with the scanning problems, simply load up around 50 or less pages and press the only button on
the scanner to start. Then monitor the scanning for any paper jams that may occur. The included ScanSnap Manager
can be used to organize the PDF documents, but other compatible document organizers can be used as well.
The Fujitsu S1500 isn't really the all-in-one solution that flatbed scanners aim to be, but it certainly does a
fantastic job on its main functions which involves scanning groups of documents in record time. With its small
size, this is one great scanner to have on an office desk or home if OCR features are really needed.
